Smart Cities and their parking infrastructures

Smart cities invest in high quality of life and speculate on some general principles that make them more progressive and inclusive. Networked infrastructures facilitating M2M and mobile communications are used to improve economic and political efficiency and enable social, cultural and urban development. Our goal is to investigate existing technologies and applications and build new concepts and services that will benefit citizens. We involve users in the process, to ensure that their needs and expectations will be met.

E-Park is a project led by our group and involves universities and municipalities from Cyprus and Greece. The aim is to design and implement a system that will integrate innovative solutions in simplifying the parking experience. To this extent, we examine methodologies for parking monitoring, dynamic pricing and advance reservations which will benefit both the drivers and parking operators alike.
